Sergeant First Class Reilly was a rifleman with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. On April 26, 1966, while on patrol with his platoon in South Vietnam, he was taken prisoner and died in captivity. His remains were recovered on April 27, 1989 and identified on August 18, 1989. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
