Lieutenant Rogers was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Lieutenant Rogers was a veteran of World War II and served in Korea. He was assigned to the training staff at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. On the night of November 7, 1952, he was leading trainees through an infiltration course when a fire broke out nearby. As he led his men to extinguish the fire, he accidentally kicked a live grenade, which exploded killing him.
