Private First Class Santesse was a member Battery C, 674th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was listed as Missing in Action on June 23, 1953, when the plane transporting him to Korea crashed in the ocean off Tsukishima Island, near Hiroshima, Japan. He was presumed dead on June 24, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
