Notes
Corporal Thompson was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. During the intense fighting near Chipyong-ni, South Korea, he was listed as Missing in Action on February 15, 1951. Later it was determined that he had been taken Prisoner of War and was killed while a prisoner from aerial strafing on May 19, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
