For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Wright was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Wright was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while trying to relieve elements of the 2nd Infantry Division at the Haktam-ni Bridge near Hoengsong, South Korea on February 12, 1951. He was presumed dead on March 5, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
