Specialist, Fourth Class Yeakley was a member of Troop F, 8th Cavalry Regiment. On June 11, 1972, he was a passenger in a Hughes Loach Observation Helicopter (OH-6A) on a visual reconnaissance mission over the northern provinces of South Vietnam when the aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered and identified on February 7, 2011. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
