On December 5, 1944, 1st Lt. Ben B. Barnes flew his P-51 aircraft as part of the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Grouper on an escort mission to Berlin, Germany to protect U.S. bombers.

In the towns and villages of northern France, where American forces liberated the French people during World War II, the memory of our fallen is far from forgotten. Local citizens come to ABMC cemeteries and lay flowers at their adopted graves as a gesture of their appreciation.

The normal entrance at Corozal American Cemetery will be closed on November 17 due to maintenance work. Visitors may enter on foot by the side entrance located up the road on Calle Rufina Alfaro. No cars may park inside the cemetery or block the entrance.

A major repaving project is underway at the Florence American Cemetery. The cemetery remains open throughout the project, however, access to plot areas will be limited at certain times due to safety concerns.
